Gro Alliance in 2003, he has held the positions of Client Operations Manager, Director of Business
Development and his current post as Vice-President of Business Development, where he manages client relationships, contracting and pricing for the company. His background includes growing up in the family business where he worked in both the field and facility aspects. Schweigert founded ASTA’s FuSE initiative in 2005, serves as the chair of ASTA’s Management Skills
Committee and as ASTA’s Vice-President to Canada.
Garth Hodges

Hodges is the General Manager of
Oilseeds for Bayer CropScience –
BioScience, based in Calgary, Canada.
Hodges leads the global team responsible

for developing the world wide canola, oil seed rape and juncea research, development, breeding and business. Hodges has held this position since his arrival in Canada in September 2002. Previous to that, Hodges was responsible for global licensing of biotechnology traits at Aventis CropScience’s headquarters in Lyon, France.
Don Wertman
Seedway, LLC
Wertman’s seed career began in 1966
at Seem Seed Farms in Emmaus,
Pennsylvania and continues today as
Chief Operating Office of Seedway, LLC.
He also serves as Chairman of Allied
Seed, LLC, a forage and turf seed production and sales firm.
Wertman’s industry work includes terms as President of the
Pennsylvania and New York seed associations, NY State
Seed Improvement Cooperative, the Field Seed Institute, the
Western Seed Association and the Atlantic Seed Association.
For over 30 years Wertman has been an active member of the
American Seed Trade Association, serving as Chairman for
2003-2004.
Culp has worked for Precision Laboratories since 1992. He was Sales Manager until 1996 and Director of Operations from 1997 to 2003, before moving to his current position of Vice-President of the company’s Seed Enhancement and Foliar Nutrition Business. Previous to working at Precision, he held various sales and marketing positions for a chemical company in Indiana, Illinois, Washington and California.
Schoenecker has more than 20 years of experience in the vegetable seed business with Harris Moran Seed Company.
Beginning his career in 1987, Schoenecker called on processing, fresh market and greenhouse customers as an Account Representative. In 1991, he moved into marketing as Product Manager for an array of crops and ended his stint as Director of Marketing. In the past decade, Schoenecker worked as Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs before assuming his current position as Director of Intellectual Property for HM Clause. Active in the American Seed Trade Association, he has been the Chairman of the Vegetable and Flower Division, Chair of the Emerging Disease Committee, Western Region Vice-President and serves on the board of the International Seed Federation’s Vegetable and Ornamental section as the ASTA representative.
